Shoulder
The hip is a ball-and-socket joint formed by the hip socket (acetabulum), which is part of the pelvis, and the ball-and-socket head, which is the spherical top of the thighbone. Both the hip socket and the ball of the hip are covered with a thin layer of cartilage. This ensures that the hip can move smoothly.
